Rachel Goodyear Exhibtion: Approaching the Surface at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, 21 October – 19 November 2016

Urchins 2 – 2016

Sensitive drawings by Rachel Goodyear ‘referencing unusual and psychotic scenarios, the work in the exhibition captures the sensation of fragmented memories and unconscious fears slowly emerging from the psyche’.

The work was curated in a more or less single line around the gallery and the works are  floated in immaculately produced wooden frames.

The works are a mix of paint and drawn pencil. The former often freely applied leaving drips, splashes and brush marks whilst the drawn line, in contrast is finely applied with singular control and focus.
