Print, Fold and Draw (11) hung at the RWA Biennial Draw show – 2017

RWA – Private view 31st March 2017

Very pleased to have had one of my drawings accepted into the RWA Biennial Drawn show in Bristol.

‘Submissions for this exhibition are invited from artists of any background who either draw or explore the concept of drawing in their work, including illustrators, videographers, sculptors, printers, embroiderers, typographers, animators and architects, presenting a multidisciplinary approach to this resurgent medium.

This year’s selection panel includes Martin Clayton, Head of Prints and Drawings at the Royal Collection, Johanna Baring, Director and Curator of The Ingram Collection of Modern British and Contemporary Art and Academicians Peter Randall-Page RA RWASarah Gillespie RWA and Lawrence Nash RWA‘.

The show was hung in a huge gallery within the Academy’s listed building with a mass of wonderful drawings. Period building, well lit, with high ceilings and wooden floors.

Running parallet to the Biennial show, Drawn is Lines in a Landscape: drawings from the Royal collection 1st April 2017 to 4th June 2017.  Interesting to see drawings from centuries past alongside contemporary work. Both equally as inspiring.

Looking the other way the second room was almost as big as the first (above). The red drawing below is by Caroline Holt Wilson, another Wimbledon college of Art, MA Drawing student whose work was accepted into the show.  Laura Wend’s work (also MA Drawing) had a work selected but not hung.

Caroline Holt Wilson – Work untitled.
